Vi-Passana (mindfulness) and Metta (loving kindness) City Retreats in London, 22nd and 23rd of September 2012

I’d like to invite you to a couple of retreats I’ll be teaching in London this weekend.

1) Vi-Passana Retreat, Sunday the 23rd of Sep 1:00- 4:30pm 

The retreat will take place at  Evolve wellness center in South Kensington.

Insight meditation practice (also known as vi-passana or mindfulness) is a training of attention that wakes us up of our conditioned mind and reveals the nature of reality; reveals our basic goodness.

The practice of meditation reminds us who we really are. It allows us to relax peacefully, be happy with no reason and love with no boundaries. Meditation helps us remember what really matters, so that we live fully, love fully and be fully present for our lives.

The half-day retreat is  suitable for beginners as well as practitioners who would like to deepen their meditation practice.

The half-day retreats will be held in silence and include

  • Deep Relaxation
  • Instructions for  sitting and walking meditations
  • Guided meditations on loving kindness and compassion
  • A talk on insight practices and related theme

The retreat will emphasize on a friendly, loving ,approach to practice and life or what I sometimes refer to as radical acceptance. This retreat entails pre-registration which needs to be done directly with the center.

2) Metta (Loving Kindness) and Compassion Retreat Saturday, Sep 22nd, 10:30-2:30pm

Metta (in Pali) translates to unconditional loving kindness. A practice which intends to train a practitioner in developing infinite unconditional friendliness to all there is.

First one develops loving kindness towards oneself, then towards respected ones, loved ones, neutral beings and finally difficult beings and enemies. Metta practice exposes the practitioners to love which is beyond attachments, a love so vast practitioners feel they are part of everyone and everything and finally realize they ARE everything.

This retreat will include:

  • Deep Relaxation
  • Instructions for loving kindness and compassion meditations
  • Basic mindfulness of the breath practices
  • Guided meditation on forgiveness
  • Gratitude practices

My friend, Louise, who lives in a beautiful spiritual community in Highgate (N10) has offered me a space for this intimate retreat.

Since Louise and her friends are generously giving me their space I can hold this workshop as a traditional “pure dana” retreat, which means there will be no fixed charge for this retreat and each participant will pay as much as they can afford. However, due to limited space, pre-registration is needed for this retreat and can be done directly with me via email.  

You, are of course welcome to attend both retreats.
