Day 22- Gratitude To Nature

We’ve been having some incredible days here in London. Beautiful sun. Clear sky. Short dresses and flip flops. Summer is back for a while. What a joy!!!

So our challenge today is expressing gratitude to nature. I urge all of you – whether in London or not, to get out of your homes this weekend and spend some time in nature. Go for a walk in the woods, cycle along the shore, climb to a pick of a mountain, dance salsa on the beach. Have fun. Be active. Get Outdoors. Enjoy the free gifts of nature.

The Earth

Every meal we’ve ever been blessed with, every single day of our lives has been offered to us from the bounty of this earth. Everything we’ve ever drunk.  Every liquid we’ve ever taken in has also come from this earth. Every home we’ve ever lived in. Every material position we’ve ever owned. Every vehicle that’s ever taken us of a journey. All come from this earth.

Every person we’ve ever met. Every body we’ve ever touched or held hands with or kissed. Every single body is made up from this earth and one day will turn to it as the soil. Every animal we’ve ever touched. Every plant we’ve ever watered. The mountains, the oceans, the valleys , the rivers, the streams  and the lakes. The desert and the beaches. All of it from this beautiful earth. For us to enjoy and experience this life.

The Sun

I also invite us to appreciate the sun. Reflect on that golden light that shines eternally, lights up our souls and warms our hearts. Be grateful for the way the sun gives us the ability to perceive all the beauty, the colors and the textures. Allows the plants and flowers to grow and blossom. Provides us with the sustenance of life. The sun lights up the path ahead and shows us the way. The sun also recharges Superman – i.e. recharges our compassion, kindness and generous acts towards another. Lights up the Super abilities in our humanity. ( and yes, I know Superman doesn’t really exist – unfortunately)

Our bodies

I always think of our bodies as bridges between heaven and earth. Almost as if our bodies have been beautifully crafted to anchor the energies of heaven and ground them in the earth. Our bodies allow the beautiful sacred union of the divine muscular energy of the sun and the divine feminine energy  of the earth. If you close your eyes for a moment you’ll be able to see it.

So get out of the house today. Look for the beauty of the sky, the infinite flowers, plants and trees. Get excited by the thousands shades of green, blue, yellow and brown. Enjoy the butterflies and the ants, the countless birds, sheep and fish and all the numberless seen and unseen creatures. Reveal in all the free gifts that nature is offering us. And dedicate this song to the amazing nature.

Thank you Adva, I spent the afternoon sunbathing in my garden. I felt so grateful to be able to enjoy the beautiful weather in my beautiful garden 🙂
Unfortunately I won’t be able to meet up in London with you next weekend as I live in Herefordshire – would have been great to be able to meet up with other gratitude practitioners (or should that be ‘grateful people’!) but just not possible.
many thanks for your continues support and inspiration.

    Ruth
