Do you think this is just another day in your life?
It is not just a day. It’s the one day that has been given to you. Today. It’s been GIVEN to you. It’s a gift. It’s the only gift that you have right now and the only appropriate response is gratefulness.
If you do nothing else but to cultivate that response to the great gift that that unique day is. If you learn to response as if it were the first day in your life. And the very last day. Then you would have spent this day very well.
Begin with opening your eyes and be surprise that you have eyes you can open. The incredible array of colors that is constantly offer to us for pure enjoyment.
We get the sky. We so rarely look at the sky. So rarely note how different it is from moment to moment as clouds come in. We just think of the weather but even than we do, we don’t think of all the many nuances of weather. We just think of good weather or bad weather. This day, right now is unique weather. Maybe a kind that in that form will never come again. The formation of clouds in the sky will never be the same as they are right now. Open your eyes. Look at that.
Look at the faces of people that you meet. Each one has an incredible story behind their face. A story that you could never really fathom. Not only their own stories but the stories of their ancestors.
And this is just a few of the enormous number of gifts that you can open your heart to. So I wish that you will open your heart to all these blessings and let them flow through you. That way everyone you meet on this day will be blessed by you. just by your eyes. By your smile. Your touch. Just by your presence. Let the gratefulness overflows the blessings all around you. Then it would really be a good day
I admit I was gonna write a post about gratitude to nature and was browsing for relevant images. Then I found this embedded piece by the award winning cinematographer, Louie Schwartzberg, and was overtaken. The text is excerpts of the text, the wise old man, whose name I don’t know, is sharing in that movie.
May we live with a grateful heart. May we be present for our presents.
