The Safest People In The World

I admit I was very scared to arrive in Burma and I arrived there with a lot of fear and anxieties. Then, upon landing in Yanggon I met a British fellow traveler and he said, truthfully, that I’m going to be amidst the safest people on earth – Buddhist monks and nuns – and that he cannot see any reason for me to be worried.

I was thinking thank God for these little moments of grace

  1. We have more to fear from people of “civilized” countries oftentimes than we do from “developing” ones. Our intents are more sophisticated and corrupted in some respects. I have personally found people in Mexico to be more forthcoming about money and tipping than people in the US or Canada.
