Unreliable Perception – Excerpts From a Meditation Diary

Lumbini, March 18, 2009  (three weeks to the first intensive meditation retreat)

10:00 The body is light, airy, almost as if there is no sense of body. Body dissolves into air. Feels like flying . This is the first time I feel this way. Wow. This is fun

15:00 The body is very light. Weightless. Than dissolves into space. Losing sense of palms and feet. This is the first time I feel this way

19:30 Body is light. Space. Lost sensation of different body parts. Flying. Wow!!! Fun!!! This is the first time I see that.

Lumbini, 19 March 2009

05:30 No sense of body at all. Body and space are the same. Feels like flying. This is the first time I feel this way.

09:30 Body melts into space. Melts into the ground. Disappear. This is the first time I feel this way.

10:30 I prepare for the daily interview and notice I repeat writing down the same experience with the same level of excitement again and again. Keep feeling that each time is the very first time I ever experienced anything like that. Funny.

There are countless similar examples…..
